So let me get this straight...
You don't understand how income tax works, you don't understand what sales tax is, and you don't understand how the estate tax works.
If you enjoy roads, schools, basic protective services and pretty much all of modern society then you understand why this is essential.
If you have enough money that you have to worry about inheritance taxes, then you can afford accountants to negate pretty much all your taxes anyway.
Is the tax system completely awful? Of course. It has been weaponized against the lower class while having very little impact against the wealthy. The problem isn't how many times your dollar gets taxed though, it's that the system is intentionally made to be overly complicated to leave room for loopholes only accessible to those who already have more than they need.

Inheritance tax is theft imo. What possible justification is there for taking money and property from a person who’s already paid a lifetime of tax and wants to gift that to someone else?

That's why a lot of people have started putting their assets in their children's names in their later years. Rather than allowing the government to rape their family in estate taxes. I'll be doing this as well. The government has taken enough from me my whole life while I've never collected Unemployment or welfare. Never qualified for any bursaries or breaks. The middle class is the jackass that carries the whole country but can't benefit from any of it while the rich get tax breaks and the poor get support...the middle class is forced to pay for it and not reap anything from it.
