#3 who wrote that little gem? Another fortune cookie arm chair therapist? who never had a thing go wrong in their life? A coping mechanism is the same as eating pizza or enjoying a favorite TV show and while it can be self destructive, like, let's say, with alcohol or drugs, no one has any right to shame you for how you handle your pain with this "grow up" mentality based on what THEY assume happens in YOUR life and it's completely assinine. If the little vices you allow yourself help you to get through the day, then keep doing them. A better thing to say would not be "everyone is thinking it" but "everyone is a hypocrite" when it comes to criticizing others for like this for "coping". No, this is NOT safe space millennial thinking, this is from an old school boomer male conservative who spent 40 years hearing people condemn me for what they didn't want to be "hasseled" with and so I lived alone with crippling anxiety and a panic disorder until I was old enough to tell these people "go to Hell" and how I know now you should shed yourself of toxic people around you who won't even let you even have the right to have a mental health of physical issue in your life. THAT'S the thing to watch out for. Narcissists with their regimen of shame, scorn, scurtiny...and keyboards.
