I knew a girl in her twenties with three kids who thought islands floated because I had once mentioned that an island near us was moving 6 in. a year because of continental drift. I asked her how she thought it worked and she believed islands were like the floating debris on top of water.

"I work for Parks Canada in Yoho National Park. I have been asked the question (seriously), “Where do you keep the animals at night?” twice in my career. To this day I still find great joy imagining what they thought was going on each night as we “collected” every large animal in the Parks."
