Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal, born in Los Angeles in 1980, is an actor and producer born into a family of artists. He is the son of director Stephen Gyllenhall and screenwriter Naomi Foner. He was acclaimed for his performance in films from the 2000s like the indie classic Donnie Darko. He has also played in action movies, for instance, The Day After Tomorrow and in Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain.
