Missy, No, it's a pneumatic lift with central swing out arms and a fail-safe that just FAILED!!! Of course, the ones with the front and rear controls are just as bad. It won't go to the roof, but if you fail to notice that only one of them is working, you can stand a car on its nose. Or, back bumper, depending on which lift is working. I've worked in new car dealerships that have one or both kinds. I saw a car on a lift like the one above, where one side wasn't swung out properly and the car fell on its side. Fun, fun, fun. Unhappy owner for the next few days.
