#17 The image only show a German book, which is not that old (definitly after the meidval ages). I guess it was printed in the 19th century (based on the font used for printing).
I loved the LOTR films and the original animated films. The books however were tedious due to the heavy use of description which can go on and on and on.
Peg, When Michelin started making tires in the late 1800's tires were white. Carbon black was added to the rubber in the early 1900's to harden the soft rubber greatly increasing tire life.
Unlikely this woman was really the "first author". Is someone claiming that she invented writing in a full-blown enough form to write epic poems? If not, then someone before her must have written something. A creationist would say that the first author was Adam, who according to Genesis wrote an account of his creation. An evolutionist would say that the first author was some nameless caveman who wrote some symbols on the wall of his cave and said "That means 'keep out'" or some such.
When Winston Churchill sold his family home, Chartwell, to the National Trust he required that a marmalade cat named Jock always live there. There have now been several Jocks over the decades.
