As an American, I hate the football field measurement. Most people say 100 yards yet visualize the entire length of the field including the two 10yard end zones, it's 120 yards. So I never know.

Pat, No we don't include end zones. Never. We only include goal line to goal line. It's an easy way to visualize 100 yards.

Pat,
....you have a particularly active imagination, but that's ok.

I luv how Germans call hotdogs.....frankfurters.

Joey,
it's somehow also funny that everything in German sounds kind of like an order/command.

Joey,
Frankfurter is a kind of regional sausage in Germany, one of many other sausages in Germany. It's just that Americans picked that king of sausage for their hotdogs.

Half of these apply to Germans as well, (and probably quite a few others) esp. the football field measurement (only topped by bath tubs as a measurement of volume).

#16 is valid though.

#5 In Austria there is no such thing as line cutting, it is even customary to let people go first if they only have a few things and you have a full shopping cart - men as well as women! What I love about Americans is that it's not awkward to have conversations with complete strangers on the street!

Humey,

Same here... never heard the term pregaming. Maybe they're thinking of the pregame show before the game starts?

Ted,

pregaming is drinking alcohol before a social event or function.
So If you have a couple of beers at home before a concert, with friends or alone, it would be pregaming.

Nobody refers to their mom as "my old lady." That's more like the kind of phrase a biker or a hippie would use to refer to his girlfriend or wife.

People do refer to their dad as "old man", but the other one, nah.
