When you compare the cost of using shipping containers to build houses, including the cost of taking them to the house, cutting them up, piling them, I cannot imagine you save money compared to conventional framing. Plus, they are covered with lead paint to withstand ocean travel and how can you insulate them properly?
I think the whole concept is a hype to make rich people believe they are saving the planet, like the hybrid Escalade.

Hamilton, It works out ok if you using 1 and you just cut some windows, but if you have to use more than one and steel beams and insulation and stuff, its cheaper to build normally.

Where lumber is imported and very expensive and used shipping containers are cheap and widely available, this makes a ton of sense.
Think "HAWAII" where if the insane building codes were relaxed, you would see these being used to build affordable housing everywhere.

Demaris, "affordable housing everywhere" will NOT look like this. Trust me, this house was f@#king expensive and it could have been done without shipping containers for the same amount of money.

What about the insulation or cooling? Do they still have metal walls, cold as f@#k in winter, and blck painted metals walls will be very hot in summer?

Bridie, you can insulate those containers, yes. The only every legit container home I saw online is the one in northern washington state: https://youtu.be/guufciJaug8

All others seem to be some expensive youtube promotion sh#t from people with too much money.

Silas, you have obviously never visited Hawaii, where half a million people would love to smash 3 building containers together, roof it, and call it home. Termites are terrible, there is no winter, and hurricane season looms every year.
These containers are a godsend to build out homes in, but the democrat run state won't allow it because the system is so rigged towards 3.5 million dollar mansions for the rich and famous, leaving those who earn less than $300.000.00 annually out in the cold.

Demaris, Demaris, you have obviously never learned to read. I said it will NOT LOOK LIKE THIS which is clearly referring to the million-dollar-home shown in the video. I do agree, that containers can be affordable living space. Depending on where you live, it's no option to save money.
