Cheap jump scares are the cause of these increased heart rates. Most of these movies are the cinema equivalent of an air horn in your ear. They are NOT scary. Try The Thing 1982, The Exorcist, The Omen, Poltergeist 1982 and stay away from the remakes.

Outbreak, Dustin Hoffmann and Russo. Scariest movie I've ever watched in my life. Pre and post 'Rona.

Loved the film, you might also enjoy Contagion which is along the same lines. One of my favorite scary movies and I don't usually care for horror is As Above so Below. Great for anyone who hates confined places.
