#6 well, it's not everywhere in germany. To be exact, they get pretty rare. The type of toilet is called "Flachspüler" (literally shallow flusher) and almost non-existing in North America and they won't buy them anyways.
The main reason of existance is if you need to take samples of your defecation because of sickness reasons or to check for blood (dark/black shit) it is way easier to take the sample. It sounds gross but if you're every having problems with your intestines and need to go this way, keep them in mind.

#6 It's to avoid contact with dirt water (to avoid getting deseases (of the skin for example)). The upper water is always clear (before and after use).
