Wilhelmina, There are exceptions to the rule. I used to own a shorthaired cat when I was younger who escaped the house and got sprayed by a skunk. Believe me, I gave him a bath. Today I own 15 year old Chinchilla (long hair) and a couple of months ago , she soiled herself so she needed a bath.
