Probably a fog actually as hot air mixing with cold would cause that. Smoke would rise to the top of the cabin.

Pretty sure it's a full Makarov, but I'm confused by the slide's rear, too. The panels conform to the grip far too closely. There is a pic floating around of a Glock with Star grips, but they clearly don't fit well.
