It was uncommon for people to in the gladiatorial games. Training a gladiator took time and money. And the more famous ones were like rockstars. You don't just kill of your property, many were slaves, like that.
Many were also not toned with a six pack like in some movies for precisely that reason. A nice bit of fat gives your opponent something to cut without a kill.

Derrick. Your information is incredibly faulty. Prisoners of war were collected to massacre in the games. In one instance (I forget who, you can look it up) one of the Ceasars ran out of people to kill so he emptied the first ten or twenty rows of spectators into the arena.

Dalton, Your reading is incredibly faulty. I was not talking about prisoners of war. I was talking about gladiators.
And obviously in the the centuries of gladiatorial games there have been some exceptions and circumstances. But overall, I know what I'm talking about.

#1 bathes were also temperature regulated. People first went to a near scalding bath, then into 2 or 3 cooler ones until the bath ritual was done. Water was also changed semi often. It was not like a bunch of filthy people crammed into months old dirty water like it states. That and the washing fountains around the city absolutely reduced sicknesses in many ways.

#9 also over exaggerated. They did use urine because of the ammonia, but it was thoroughly washed out with other agents such as natural fragrances and oils.

Education

For many Roman families, it was up to the parents to teach their kids anything they needed to learn. So, if your parents weren’t very educated, the chances were that you wouldn’t be either. Only the wealthiest families could afford tutors.
