#40 A house in woods is very inviting at first but the joy wears off after a while. Lights are flipped on early as there's not much light inside. Wood rots because of the shade and anything stained or even worse, painted, will have to be redone every 5 yrs or so.
Having said that, nothing beats the smell after it rains and the beauty after a snow storm.

Silas, I'm not hearing a down side. I have to work to keep my suburban house in shape as with every other thing anywhere.

... its not a house in the sense of being permanent residence - its log cabin rented by the day/weekend/week. House at that latitude will require basement and more sophisticated heater than fireplace with straight chimney.
