Being introvert doesn't necessarily mean, being socially awkward. Introverts can be socially competent too. Extroverts have the advantage that they learn that more naturally.

The main difference between introvert and extrovert is how each personality trait relaxes. Extroverts like to relax in with other people. Introverts like to relax on their own.

I've heard it put that introverts have so much going on in their heads they don't need or want a whole lot going on around them. Extroverts prefer to find things going on around them rather than inside them. Probably the reason some people like to have silence when they sleep, but for others they need the music on.

I maintain 1/2 attendance at the "afterwork"/coworker parties. Just enough to show my coworkers that I am not entirely lost cause, but I do not enjoy those.

Only realised this year, after 7 years of paying, that the so called "Party" fund (20-ish $/year) was actually Optional, not mandatory. Was going to use that as an excuse to not go to Any party at all, but then the damned extroverts saw through my ploy and made it extra clear that you did not have to pay to show up.

Maybe it is time I just come clean and say that parties are not my thing.
