Lula, it’s funny how every nation thinks they invented the automobile. Ask an American and they’ll say Ford or Dodge Bros. Germans will say Karl Benz. A close friend from India very bitterly claims it was India.
The truth is that there were breakthroughs all over the world around the same time. Benz was the first to patent a combustion engine design and Ford was the first to mass produce a factory built car - both very big differences from inventing the car. There were many different automobiles in use all over the world, including electric and steam powered, long before Benz and Ford, all of which laid the foundation for modern cars. As early as the 17th century, China was using steam powered automobiles for personal transportation on roadways regularly - like in the 1600s. That’s pretty incredible. So there were important contributions from all over the world that eventually led to modern cars.
#10 For the record? That is an abomination. Even if you don't make homemade biscuits, there's decent buttermilk biscuits that're so close to homemade that can be found in most grocery stores freezer sections. Margarine-laced sliced sludge peeled from a pre-packaged fridge tube does not a biscuit make! And for all that is holy, split the biscuit in half before slathering all that gravy goodness over them. Y'all are welcome.
An actual positive American post? I almost fell over. So used to being insulted by all the wise all knowing Euros who frequent this site. Look at me I'm blushing over here. Seriously come to Seattle man. No friendly people anywhere!
#17 Its not common, because Houses are not made from cardboard here in Germany. There is actually a federal law restricting that. No active A/C. The cooling during goes by the buildings mass and insolation. And thats a good thing. Otherwise it would be too engergy consuming and therefore lead to an even bigger climatical impact.
“The fact that yelling ‘yee-haw’ in a country setting will almost always be met with whooping, hollering, and other ‘yee-haw’s. I live in the US, but am from Ireland. I live in Arizona.”
