Menaalmena, It's actually called a Stand. Not a forest since a forest consists of many species of trees and undergrowth, where Aspens or Quaking Aspens are all one organism, not many different organisms. A Pando is where the Aspen Stand has spread. Pando literally means, to spread. :)

and without the exact time when rome should've looked like this it's worthless. But I think that's more a problem of the internet sharing this pic without crutial information.
