#1 – Fun Growth Charts

Fun growth charts come in many different types. Anything from a space-themed growth chart to a silly animal growth chart would be considered fun growth charts.

These fun growth charts are quite popular for bedrooms that have a lot of color in them. The fun themes tend to fit well with such rooms.

#2 – Minimalistic Growth Charts

A minimalistic growth chart tends to be black and white. These charts are typically just basic rulers with the various measurements you need on them.

If you have quite a specific aesthetic in the room that you mean to add a growth chart to, minimalistic ones might be best. They tend to fit much better than others for simple rooms.

#3 – Educational Growth Charts

Educational growth charts are quite popular for children who are slightly older, typically around five years and over. The chart contains some fun maps and puzzles on them that the child can learn as they grow older, showing an increase in brainpower as well as height.

Obviously, the aim is not to force the child to learn these things as quickly as possible. The goal is simply to make the experience more interesting!

#4 – Personalized Growth Charts

A personalized growth chart is one that is custom-designed for the child that you intend to have use it. You’ll usually put your child’s name on the chart, as well as have the design include things that the child likes, such as dinosaurs, jungle animals, etc.

If you have more than one child that you wish to do this with, we strongly recommend getting a growth chart for each of them. A personalized growth chart is far more intimate than the other options!

What Materials are Growth Charts Typically Made From?

#1 – Canvas

Canvas material is flexible enough that you can roll it up, if necessary. Using a canvas growth chart is ideal if you plan to move it around and/or not keep it out all year long.

You can choose to leave a mark each year and then store the chart until the following year.

#2 – Paper

Paper growth charts are useful if you plan to pin them to your wall without damaging it. Paper can be quite easily attached to a wall.

However, paper growth charts aren’t nearly as durable as others. It is quite easy for them to get torn and ruined.

#3 – Wood

Wooden growth charts are generally more expensive and difficult to move around than other material options. That being said, wood growth charts also tend to be the most attractive, versatile options.

You can do a whole lot of things on wood that simply wouldn’t work on other materials. Most of our design ideas do look much better on wood than the others.

Wood growth charts are best to use if you can easily leave the chart wherever you originally set it up.

#4 – Plastic

The primary advantage of plastic growth charts is that they are very difficult to damage. Neither water nor sunlight will have any impact on them.

The only downside to a plastic growth chart is that it looks a bit tacky. Other options look much nicer.

However, plastic is also much easier to keep clean, so it might be a good option if the chart will be somewhere that a child can easily reach it.

Some Fun Design Ideas that May Suit Your Needs

#1 – Jungle Growth Chart

A nice jungle growth chart could be quite a simple option. You only need the basic ruler growth chart with a few jungle animals drawn up one side.

Another possible addition to one would be a few vines for the animals to appear to be swinging from.

#2 – Sports Ball Growth Chart

If your child likes sports, you can have a growth chart with several different sports balls on it, such as soccer balls, volleyballs, footballs, basketballs, and so on.

This is quite an easy design as well. It is difficult to screw up drawing a ball! Thus, you could even make this one yourself if you so wished.

#3 – Fun Vehicle Growth Chart

If your child seems fond of planes and trucks, then a vehicle growth chart could be fun. You could have smaller vehicles like cars at the base of the chart and bigger things such as boats and planes at the top.

As your child grows, you can tell them that they’ve reached the height of the next vehicle as they do!

#4 – Deep Space Growth Chart

Space is a common interest in young children. What better than an astronaut-themed growth chart for such a child!

You can chuck planets, rockets, stars, and whatever else you like on there with ease. You could even make the stars glow in the dark. Your child is sure to love it!

#5 – Giant Tree Growth Chart

A massive tree is a simple option as well. You can have the tree right in the center with branches reaching out to each new height goal.

A cool idea would be to have a little figurine hang onto the branches that you can move up as your child gets taller.
