So many films today are produced on green screen and or with CGI and special effects so I've got to wonder what it is that is so costly? Films of the past set up entire cities and then had to tear them down or move location and rebuild the entire thing over again and didn't cost this much, yet were better films.

Mack,
Actor salary and fat overhead costs for execs is part of it. Shooting on green screen is easier than building traditional sets but there is a huge expense of time and money to model and render all of the effects. Months or even years in editing after principle production wraps
