“Be responsible for your sexual pleasure and don’t rely on your partner. Be open to adventure, but speak frankly about what you enjoy in that experience. Just because other people like, admire, or desire things, don’t feel compelled. Really give thought to what you want and need in your life.”

“Getting close to 80 here. Not much matters anymore. Sunsets are nice, so are flowers, food – meh. Sex – what about it? Family mostly dead. Take every day as a gift, you might not get another one. All that stuff you thought was important? You can’t even give it away so you watch all your dreams go into the trash. The world in which young people live is not even distantly connected to the world you valued. But that is okay, the past is dead, tomorrow might not happen, all you have is now. Cheers.”

“In a workplace, don’t be afraid to talk with coworkers about pay. Companies make it “taboo” because it increases the chances of having to give raises.”

“I don’t know how taboo it is but take care of your body, little things big things, wash your feet and be careful picking up heavy objects.”

“As long as you’re not hurting yourself or anyone else, be who you really want to be all day long. Don’t conform to society to fit in with people who don’t like who you are, be it a job, friends, family, or even your significant other. Nothing in this world is worth sacrificing your real self.”

“Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth, oh, never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they’ve faded, but trust me, in 20 years, you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked.”

“Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too, will get old. And when you do, you’ll fantasize that when you were young Prices were reasonable, politicians were noble, and children respected their elders. Respect your elders.”

“People aren’t thinking about you near as much as you think they are. Everyone is concerned with themselves way too much to think about that embarrassing thing you did that one time.”

“No one told me that women can get unwanted facial hair when we get older -like little chin whiskers and upper lip hair, nose hair that has to be trimmed-stuff like that. This was all played off as something that only men deal with or only old witches get or something. I think it’s taboo because it’s encompassed in the “things that get waxed, plucked or shaved” in tv shows but the young women or men in the audience might assume they mean bikini.”

“Don’t stay in a relationship (sexual or platonic) with someone if they treat you badly. Life’s too short. You don’t have to be a Dick about it but excuse yourself and get away from them. Also, if after 2 years you don’t see yourselves getting married, end it. It’s better for everyone.”

“Save money, you never know when you’ll need it. No, you don’t need that one thing worth $10 you’re going to forget about tomorrow. $10 May not be a lot, but if you’re always wasting $10 on stuff, eventually you won’t have money when s@#t gets real bad.”

“Don’t feel pressured to go to college. I wasted 3 years of my life and 60k worth of loans to not finish because life got in the way. Experience is just as important and as long as you find an employer willing to see your skills you will do well. Yes there are some jobs that require degrees and if you are set on those then go for it.”

“Sex is healthy and good for you. There’s nothing wrong with it, and even abstaining from all sex (including masturbation) can be bad for your health. Just use condoms and consent, and go to town, or just masturbate, there’s no shame in it and orgasms can alleviate pain and clear your mind.”

“Someday, your relevance will wane…Embrace it. It’s supposed to happen that the next generation becomes more relevant than yours. Take a break, enjoy the scenery.”

“I’m nearly 70 years old, and I spent too much of my life thinking that other people had my best interest at heart. They don’t. If someone suggests, asks, or orders you to do something, and it doesn’t feel right to you – push back. On rare occasion, the other person will be genuinely grateful for giving your perspective.”

“Be truly happy to see people win and succeed in life. Everyone is battling something make sure you recognize when they win. A simple “I’m so happy for you that…..” no matter how small could be huge boost for someone.”

Jefferson,
Don't worry about it, kid. You're obviously not smart enough to survive your 20's.

Lavonne,

lol, I'm 38 years old, happily married home owner with 2 genius children. Got it all by ignoring the terrible advice and suggestions of every boomer that tried to stick their nose in my business.

Enjoy rotting alone in a facility while your children fight over who has to deal with you.

Jefferson,
A. Bullsh#t

B. In the unlikely event any of this is true, you can look forward to the children you've taught to be hateful and selfish clamoring to get away from you long before you get old enough to live in a home.

Patsy,

Sorry, my kids are the most happy and loving children you've ever seen. They are kind and considerate to everyone.

It's okay boomer, just because your kids won't talk to you anymore there's no need to project that hostility on to someone who did so much better than you at living. Your advice is literally worthless.

Keep trying, you're bound to get a point in eventually.

Riah,

I am stuck between hoping you dont live long enough to reach old age for the benefit of EVERYONE....and hoping you live long enough to get a caretaker with the same attitude
