Pinckney, actually that's quite an ingenious design, it's a smooth boar firearm, rifled guns have grooves machined into the barrel in a spirel so the bullet leaves the barrel spinning which makes it more stable and accurate as it travels downrange, prior to that everything was smooth boar meaning no groves.smooth boar firearms are not very accurate over long distances unless you are a very skilled marksman with one.the three barrels will send three shots downrange with a higher chance one of them might hit the person. it would be hard to kill someone with a small gun like that especially in candlelight, 3 barrels give you a better chance of hitting them and slowing them down

considering that its a small caliber weapon, it would be hard to kill someone with that unless you were very, very lucky. smooth boar firearms are not that accurate unless you were really good with one. that gun is a "one time use" because it would take to long to reload it, if someone comes at you in low light (candle light) or in the dark the three balls leaving the barrels would go in the general direction of who you were shooting at and one of them might hit the person, not killing them but slowing them down long enough for you get a bigger gun or sword. this is Napoleon where talking about and a gun like that is the next to last stand if someone is trying to assassinate you, it's actually quite an ingenious design.
