What's up with the sword?
"My Animal is harmless, I am the real danger" or just go rip people together?

Levicy,

I would guess it's a kind of cosplay or japanophilia in general. I think it looks cool, so why not?

Harman, well, it's an obvious prop. And it begs the question of whether the wolf is but another prop, to her. But as you say, it looks cool, so, anything goes, eh?

There is a book called 'Wolf Totem' by Jiang Rong. It describes the life of a student in outer Mongolia who happens to get hold of a wolf cub. It is a fascinating book and I can really recommend it.
After reading that book I would not say raising a Wolf is as easy as raising a dog. It still is a wild animal that does not belong into the human world.
