#19 Perhaps they should have skipped 1994 (Arafat), 2007 (Gore and the IPCC), and 2009 (Obama). Obama was mystified as to why he got it (but he accepted the money anyway).

Matty, Yes. He had perfect pitch, and could tell you the notes on a keyboard as well as sing the tunes, play the instruments, and compose the arrangement, but he couldn't read or transcribe the music in his head. So others who could, did so for him in-studio with all the other musicians working with him. He was by most accounts, a perfectionist, so much so that he often kept crews in the studio for marathon sessions-- sometimes rearranging one song several times. Musicians and producers were exhausted by his quirks, but fascinated by his prowess in creativity and remained with him for decades since his insanity bordered on genius. lol Sad he was an odd duck, and suffered from definitive emotional dysfunctions, but he created some amazing music. The weirdo. lol

"TIL In the 1936 Olympics two Japanese pole vaulters (Shuhei Nashida & Sueo Oe) tied for second. Declined to compete against each other, Nashida was awarded silver and Oe bronze. On return to Japan they had the medals cut in two & joined together to make two 'friendship medals' out of silver & bronze"
