When someone says they don't want a pet, it isn't because they don't like animals or won't bond with it.
It's because they know no one else is going to take care of it and it will be their responsibility for years to come.
Not only that, they are probably well aware of how much they will love the animal but know very well that one day they are going to have to watch it die.
