#48 most of the founding fathers had already gotten rid of slaves, were part of anti-slavery organizations, and even got slavery banned in the states they lived in.
I wish that were true. But the sad fact is most of them did own slaves even long after the signing of the declaration of independence. The history of slavery should not be whitewashed in the name of false patriotism.
You're probably one of those people who think they own slavery. It has been a curse of all people throughout history, not limited to the black experience alone. I would be willing to be you lecture people on ignorance yet discount the suffering of thousands of others who suffered before you, after you and with you. And those who are still suffering yet, like the Uhgyers. BLM can go take a flying leap.
Norry, you’re trying to dilute the significance of black slavery in the US and how it has shaped, and continues to shape, American culture and society. I don’t get why people like you are so adamant about trying to stifle anything related to the acknowledgement of what black people have gone through in the US. Does it even affect you? Probably not. It’s funny because the same anti-BLM people couldn’t care less about the history or happenings outside of the US, except when they want to use it to invalidate someone else’s strife.
Don't bother arguing with people who continue to dismiss the history of the US slave trade. Yes. Slavery has been around forever and not only black people experienced it. But, stop dismissing the US's historical contribution to slavery. It's still happening now ffs with human trafficking and immigrants who are smuggled in and then have to work off their debt. Stop pretending that it wasn't so bad in the US and dismissing the decedents of the people whose lives were stolen, bough and sold.
Hitty, Remember, slavery started in the British colonies. Within 90 years of America being formed, it was abolished. All Northern states abolished it by 1805.
And remember, it was the Democrats that fought to KEEP slavery. They also started the clan, Jim Crow, segregation, and fought against civil rights. They are the party of racism.

But they had to have a bloody war to get the South to stop doing it. Please stop pretending like it was no big deal.

Thank you for clearing that up. Science is wonderful.
