Actually basic photoshop not paper cuts: overlap one or two picture of a hand and a transparent layer with black shapes over the original image.
Original idea? Yes!
Can any photoshop beginner do it? Also yes!

My point was that it's not paper cutouts. You agreed, so we are cool.
OTOH, overlapping 3 layers is a beginner task in photoshop. Altering the images so that the shadows and color temperature on layers match... that is advanced level, and I did not see that in any of the pictures.
