I worked in retail for over 15 years, I've seen employees make a mess and blame customers. A lot of these are rare, but things like these do happen. My personal favorite thing to do is hand the person who placed thier chicken, meat or bread or whatever near the register and say "here ya go, I think you meant to give this to someone who can put it back".
