And Americans are still in denial about their gun laws or lack thereof.

Scottie,

Do some research: in the US guns are used defensively almost 3x more often than in any crime (CDC). Nevermind the clear use case being presented in Australia right now.

Fran,

You literally have school shootings every week. Obviously those kids were using the firearms for protection right?

Scottie, US citizen here. Just a small modification to your statement.
"Some Americans" not all. Trust me. The majority of us don't even own guns.

Priscilla, very true, but it depends on where you live. I’m from CA and guns aren’t a way of life like in TX, thankfully. And, despite what gun lovers say, the US has the highest adjusted accidental death by gun and murder by gun rates in the world. All these die hard gun lovers like to act like they live in imminent danger of a terrorist attack or a home invasion at any moment, when in reality they’re middle class living in the safest neighborhoods and cities in the nation. It’s completely unnecessary.

Scottie,
It's not denial, but rather a conscious conclusion that firearms protect from tyrannical government and other 'bad guys', and a few hundred dead Americans is acceptable loss within that ideology.
Before anyone attacks; I don't agree with this mentality...just stating the (apparent) majority stance on the issue.

Zachariah,

The problem is, if the government has the support of the armed forces/police etc., a few people with guns isn't going to stop sh#t lol

Scottie, yeah but they get a power trip from their guns and their egos tend to warp their reality.

The real problem isn’t the guns. It’s the Americans holding the guns…

Kristopher,

Nope, it is the guns... Switzerland has a gun problem too, and those guns are not held in 'Murican hands.

Because all the criminals would hand in their guns when a ban came along.....

Trix,

Last I checked, it wasn't criminals shooting up schools. Well, they were obviously criminals after the fact, but before, they were kids. Kids in other developed countries do not have easy, ready access to firearms.

And apparently not one person who's blaming the parents or whoever actually owned the gun for not keeping it in a gun locker or somewhere where the kid couldn't get it. Most these school shootings could have been avoided if people actually kept their guns locked away or with a trigger lock at least.
