True story: Many many years ago, I was a barefoot 8 year-old kid running around in a swamp looking for snakes. I emerged from the swamp, muddy and filthy (and barefoot), into the backlot of a festival. At this festival, the current Miss Universe was appearing. Somehow I wandered into her trailer unchallenged and said hello. She told her Portuguese translator that I was cute and gave me a kiss on my filthy cheek. I've never washed my face since. (that last sentence is not fully factual)
The girl represented the USA in the contest. After her victory, she tried to build a career as a model in New York but failed to succeed and returned to her hometown to work for a television station.
