#1 That can work when you have a low population and all live in a similar environment and climate. Like Scandanavia. You can't tell me people who live in sothern California have the same needs as people living in Texas, Kansas, or Maine. The united states is supposed to run by State power. The federal government is too big and too involved. Being a politician is no longer a public service it's a career path.

Iceland is neat. They have a very tight immigration system to keep out the riffraff instead of just letting anybody come aboard as so many countries are doing or have done only to their detriment.
