I'm stunned at some of the places people have called travel destinations. Who tf wants to go to Fresno - which in some years has the highest murder rate in the US? Who ever thought Atlantic City was anything other than casinos and slums? ...On the other hand, if you go to Naples or Dublin, and that's all you come away with, you don't know how to travel. You're talking about thousands of years of history and culture in one place, and you can't find anything worth doing? Sad. I've been to both; I easily could spend weeks or months in either one, and never get bored.

#7 Who seriously thinks the City of Fresno is a travel destination? Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks are nearby and they are worthy travel destinations that don't disappoint. Fresno has a surprisingly good zoo though it is sadly surrounded by homeless drug user camps.

As a rule of thumb, never go to the famous cities and sites everyone knows.
Mona Lisa, Stonehenge, Vegas, Paris, etc. Since everyone knows these places, obviously hordes of tourists go there.
Which means vendors and scammers flock there to make money of them. Which means extra security. Which means facilities need to be made to handle the people but make it uglier.
And obviously Paris, Dublin, Vienna, etc are not the just the beautiful cities from the movies we have in mind (that often take place 100 + years ago.)
They are big modern cities too with lots of traffic.
If you travel, do the research and find the many treasures few tourists visit.
Avoid the city centres and go to the outlining neighbourhoods where you might find a glimpse of the "real" culture of an area.

#4 I live about 45 minutes away from Branson. Locals avoid it like the plague. They have a few outlet malls where you can get cheap designer brands but that's about it. It's mostly elderly tourists and all these cr#ppy country-western washed up musicians.

"Not quite a city, but an Airport.

Kansas City Airport.

I mentally prepared myself and everything.

It was like being inside a cardboard box. They had security checkpoints at the gates so once you went through security you were in a pen like livestock. Oh and in that pen? One stall and one urinal. For like 100+ people."
