Former IT tech here, unlike tons of pics you see out there I have no doubt that most if not all of these are real and not staged thus why I'm a "former" IT tech, the shear stupidity from most of the users was just too much (at every company I worked for)...

The shear stupidity of senior IT management is the reason I'm a former tech as well.

Back in 1694 or thereabouts, we got called out to a similar server setup, only the room had been flooded.
"uuuh, so... Can you get it running again by this afternoon?"

Regina,
May have been 1695, it was about the around the Salem witch trials and before off-site backups.

Me too. Bought an ex Dell hub 8000 square feet building in which they just took the mainframe away and left everything else. Let’s just say I’ll never need to buy another patch cable even if I live for 500 years!

For every legit story like this, I have a story about some IT person giving me instructions which not only didn't work, but which complicated the situation. So I have little sympathy. I actually wonder how many of these problems (the un-staged, legit ones) resulted from following the advice of their computer guru.

Also, when IT gives me advice and it doesn't work, why do they get angry with me? Happens on a regular basis. No one has ever explained that to me.

doing IT for 35 years seen most of this or similar. What amazes me is that most of the time it's been working that way for years.
