#29 pinhole = soaked boots. How about just bringing them inside for an hour? Or better yet, if it was actually cold outside...don't. Let them stay cold so they don't get soaked by melt water. Warm toes are what socks are for.

#30 umm they make plastic ones for that. super cheap and last longer than cardboard
Or use a hair dryer, or put them upside down on the heater vent
