we have a built in china cabinet in my house that was built in the 1890's (the house) i pulled out the draws to strip the paint of to refinish it and found a Boston Daily Globe from April 16th 1912 and the headline read "Titanic Sinks, 1500 Die" in pristine condition

the cabinet was made out of cedar and the paper was never eaten by bugs

More than half this stuff looks mostly unused. I have seen some of these items fail in normal use, because they were used.
