So, what I'm getting is New Yorkers live in like "tiny house" or "houseboat" size spaces. At least I was able to renovate my 35' boat when I moved in (lived on it three years and still miss the cozyness).

In this day and age you can earn a living elsewhere and visit New York with all the money you saved.

By the next year, those apartments will be going for $10 a month because nobody wants to live in the crime hellhole anymore

These could be in Toronto. Landlords trying to rent out furnace rooms for 1300 a month.

Live in a small town in PA. A 2500 sq-ft house on 2 acres with a $1200/mo mortgage. No crime and no vaccine papers required to interact with civilization. NYC is insane.

There are no shortage of shitty places anywhere in the world. Choose wisely. To save time & energy on commute, people live like rats.
