Vinson, The clampy thingies that are put on the bar after the weights so that the plates stay in place. If these are not installed, the lifter can dump the weights one side at a time instead of getting stuck, injured, or damaging the equipment itself.

Cam, okay I get that. So that means the lifter's form is especially important, to be sure to lift straight up and not over-balance on one side, right? So you don't dump your plates by accident?

Looks like an Asian dish where they put live snakes/eels into boiling water or hot oil.
Similar to preparing shrimps or lobsters by putting them live into boiling water - done in Europe and North America.

I live in northern Norway and is fairly used to fresh shrimp dishes (we have deliveries straight from the sea here).....not ever has a dish been prepared with live shrimp...so I am wondering where you are getting your information from
