Waldo,

mine too.
And I use a key to open it.

Just imagine to see others park their car and after a short while there is no internet. (Outage / storm / blackout)
They can't open those tin cans with their apps and have to call AAA

"I work in IT, which is the reason our house has:
- mechanical locks.
- mechanical windows.
- routers using OpenWRT.
- no smart home cr#p
- no Alexa/Google Assistant/...
- no internet connected thermostats.
The most recent piece of technology I own is a printer from 2004 and I keep a loaded gun ready to shoot it if it ever makes an unexpected noise."

Sandy,

the worst part is that in theory many of those technologies are awesome with lots of potentials. but they just get ruined by corporate greed and incompetence.

#29 That is actually happening to people with retinal implants that gave them back their sight. The company is defunct and if there is a problem with their implants hardware or software, they can suddenly lose their sight. Some who had their sight restored for over a decade and now there is no company to fix it.
