Woodrow,
#6 Dude just wants to show off that bad @$$ thumb ring.

#29 Can you imagine Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones wearing matching shirts with their band name on them? How cool would that be?

Woodrow, a fuse doesn't prevent electrocution - a fuse breaks the circuit if a fault in an appliance causes too much current to flow. In the US we have advanced GCFI outlets to prevent overcurrent and electrocution.

Delores,

You better check which of your outlets are GFCI as most are only used within 6' of water, other than that you get 15 or 20 straight amps before the main breakers trip.
In UK the fuse trips at the lowest amperage the appliance needs. Kitchens and baths are GFCI protected as in the states.
Most plugs these days are GFCI's instead of fuses anyway

Beatrice, yes but 0.1 amps will kill you so a smaller fuses don't stop electrocution.

Woodrow,

A fuse is there mainly to prevent your stuff (or the house wiring) from catching on fire.

Elsey, I don't know what kind if dimwit downvoted you, but probably someone that can't handle the truth. Fuses are indeed there to prevent the wires in your walls from igniting your house in case of a short.

Arry,

un-like objects?
this is landmass vs landmass...pretty much one thing being compared to the same thing

Fritz,
I think Arry means comparing a continent to a country ...well, except for Europe.

But is it not just western Asia, as it is all part of the same land mass?

Sorry, did not mean to troll and start a fight.

Arry,
My thought exactly!
Especially when the comparison is to USA instead of the North American Continent
