#13 All of the brain is used, but there's so much going on in there that we can only be consciously aware of a small part of it at a time. I don't know if it's ten percent, but you weren't thinking about the inside of your knee (or your nipple) until just now. ;)

Mona,

Yes. That's because we don't need to. Any new action or sight will be remembered. But if you see it daily you won't.
But that's not the myth. The myth is that we only use 10% and if we somehow could use 100%, we'd all be a genius, get super powers, and whatnot.
We use all of our brain but parts are used more and others less depending on the particular action.

Mona, I see people on the internet on a daily basis that use a lot less than 10%. Just look at some of the comments here (I'm not pointing at you) or some of those fail videos on youtube.

#11 I don't know about this one. It's pretty much a given that if my kids go outside without a hat when it's cold they'll be sick for the next two weeks.

Marian,

Probably because they play with a lot of friends in a time when the cold goes around. And if even one has it...
Correlation is not causation.

Deborah, exactly. Most people that are in car accidents have their shoes on. That doesn't mean you are less likely to be in an accident if you drive barefoot.

Cracking your knuckles makes them bigger/gives you arthritis.

"According to Harvard Health Publishing, “The ‘pop’ of a cracked knuckle is caused by bubbles bursting in the synovial fluid — the fluid that helps lubricate joints. The bubbles pop when you pull the bones apart, either by stretching the fingers or bending them backward, creating negative pressure.”"
