Dads, don’t try to replace mom by doing feminine things like painting your nails. Subconsciously your children will lose respect for you. They need a strong male/father role model. There’s no replacement for that.
I was a single Dad with two boys from K through college. They are both good men. Don't try to be their Mom or their buddy. Be Dad. Teach them to chop wood and cook meat loaf.
To clarify... don't limit yourself to a role be a parent and set boundaries rather. Chopping wood is a nessesity based skill, while meatloaf is an everyone skill. My sisters learned to chop and chainsaw when we got a wood stove, just as much as my brothers.
There is no reason you can't teach them to be compassionate and "manly" things. Every daughter needs to know how to change a tire and every son needs to know how to cook. If you are present and teach them to be self reliant, as well as empathetic, you are doing your job as a parent.

Tell everyone that you are sexist and a gender biased, by saying the dumbest thing possible. Yup, you succeeded! You are no ones role model guranteed.
