I read this to get some tips, but not the same kind of tips that you read it for.

most of them are bullsh#t, like #5, noone steals electronics these days as TVs are to bulky and most other stuff is encrypted or password protected, its just random people on reddit telling you what they have seen in movies. dash

Morris,
I worked in security for 20 years and responded to more alarms than I can recall. People do steal electronics and lots of them. Encryption and passwords are easy to bypass with the right knowledge. Most crims aren't stupid. They're not the local crackhead or kid

Wrong!!! check any police log in local thefts and you'll find many cases of personal electronics stolen, it doesn't matter if you have a password or if it has tracking software, they get stolen because you weren't paying attention

In my limited experience with burglaries, it was my then girlfriend who was the biggest criminal. Sure, her house got robbed, but her claim to the insurance company more than tripled what actually got stolen. I couldn't carry on seeing her because of that, shame, she was so very hot.

BS on the dog. If my motion lights come on, ANY of them, my dog(s) alert. If one alerts, they ALL alert. The outside cameras start up as soon as the lights come on. The sheds aren't locked, the keys are in the cars/trucks, and even in the mower and tractors, motorcycles, etc. Being rural helps a LOT. Having a shooting range in the back yard helps also. This is not the place to get stuff.

Rube, sadly, the biggest deterrent is that you own firearms so I'd just wait until no one was home. The second biggest threat are your dogs, but they're easy to bypass either temporarily or permanently. Everything else you have is just an inconvenience, not a deterrent. If someone wants something bad enough, they'll get it. Remember that people stole planes with box cutters once
