I would like to add that this is a love letter. (Yes, I am a nerd) Basically it states the acceptance of someone elses love/engagement. In a different interpretation one could see it as a love poem. When there are handles above the door you can use that for the same purpose, and they often have a small hook for hanging just a jacket by the loop. That is what that little nub sticking up in the picture is for.
I had the same in a previos Peugeot.
