Not how that works. First you join the union. Then you are enrolled in the 5 year apprenticeship program which includes 120 hours of classroom training. After 5 years you become a journeyman/woman and no longer have to have a journeyman/woman work alongside you.
Don't forget to pay the union dues or Fat Fred and Two Fingers Tony will come looking for you.
