95% of that is his brilliant technique, talent and the guitar elecrics. I've had 100's of sets of strings and with most good sets (i.e. over 15$ / 10£), you can't tell the difference

Anne, agreed. I have seen african guys playing with 3 stings made out of fishing line and construction wire that sound amazing.
