Suuuuure... It's only muricans that say things like "We saved your butt against Hitler"
First of all; if you were European, you would have said that Americans saved OUR butt, you would know that European wars kinda had stopped long before the 20th century, Americans never fought in those, AND you would know how to SPELL "European".
You also would know America wasn't the hero of WW2 that did everything. It was called a World War because people from countries across the world were involved.
It was an allied force that defeated the Axis powers and America certainly wasn't the one that contributed or lost the most. Russia had lost a lot more lives than any other for example.
And it's not exactly like America was that enthusiastic to get in there.
If Pearl Harbour hadn't happened they likely wouldn't have even come and would have just allied with Nazi Germany.
In 1939 there was a "Pro American rally" in Madison Square Garden organised by the German American Bund which was just a rally in support of Hitler and fascism featuring a portrait of Washington with swastikas on each side.
In 1939! That's after the persecution of Jews was well on it's way. After Crystal Night!
By then it was pretty clear what they were about but that rally was obviously not a problem.
It was mainly by certain efforts from a few Americans that countered then by, for example, releasing a movie by Warner Brothers ridiculing the Nazis and American sympathizers and the German American Bund's own ineptitude and internal corruption that they didn't get more of a foothold.
So spare me the tired old story that "We saved your butt in WW2."
It was good that they helped. No one is ungrateful. But America was PART of the allies. And NOT the main event.
