Rarely do I agree with everything in an Izismile post, but this is one of the times I do. Great examples, IMO.

Chris Evans as Captain America comes to mind. He had played an annoying Human Torch in a terrible Fantastic Four movie prior. No one thought he would become the character so much that it was impossible to re-cast it.
"I remember when the news was first announced that Heath Ledger was going to be playing the Joker, and I just thought, “Ugh, this is gonna s#ck. What a waste”.
I was incorrect. So very very incorrect."
