#15 is so American - Many places outside US have made similar changes way before - Strøget in Copenhagen (1,2 km of city center street) was made pedestrians only in 1962 - and it was not the first place to do so....

Ricky,
Absolutely correct. But it is not important if it was not published by the US.
But who cares, we know we are way ahead of better living and urban planing in Germany/europe etc.

salamoon,

exactly, but needfull/wishfull and the truth is always different when it comes to cars. Just watch on your favorite street, how many persons in the most cars driving. In my city 96% of all cars have just one person on board. So the Pic is not necessarily wrong.

Biddie,

Agreed - however, the words are misleading - autonomous cars can/will be shared as autonomous ride-hail services (e.g. your car makes money for you while you sit in an office or movie), thus reducing the overall number of cars on the road transporting the same amount of people.

Tish, If everyone has an autonomous car, who will ride share? also, the car driving around while your working increases the traffic density of the area while you work, You wont be the only one doing it.

salamoon,

You need 10 cars. 5 in each.

People dont live in citys anyway. They live outside.

I counted 4 per car, I wanted to give them a little bit more comfort. :)

With so many people working remotely traffic congestion isn’t even worth worrying about anymore.

#6 Call the 2nd bedroom "tool storage", eliminate the hallway to the bathroom and you have the perfect house.

The overall post is about a Utopian society. The problem is developers provide the best they can for people who want to pay the lowest cost. Older cities are at a disadvantage as they did not plan for the future very well. The key is more educated planning departments and the requirements to develop.

Terence,
If you owned a bicycle or knew how to ride one you wouldn't ask this question.
And no, a bmx doesn't count.
