salamoon,

The chart doesn't say that France is not in EU ... it says that there is a generic type of electrical outlet in Europe, with a specifity for France on the 3rd line. Also for Germany. Also for Russia (which is not in Europe but they use the generic type of european electrical outlet).

... lol ...

Harman,

listen here Einstein.... take a look to the most left in the middle... it means its in china and australia. so if there is flag of EU with France/Germany next to it...
it say those electrical outlets are in EU, so it also means they are in Germany/France as well. Im in Eu country and you can find all three types (with EU flags) here.

Left hand, second row also is what we have in New Zealand, where there are no critters that will bite you, let alone kill you, and the police don't carry guns.

#12 - That's good, backward countries need a guide like that because they are unable to JUST USE METRIC.
But metre is spelt metre, as in a unit of measure.
The word spelt meter means a measuring machine, such as a speed-o-meter or an electric meter.
Spelling the word metre as meter instantly reveals you as coming from a backward country.

#12 Most Canadians use a mix of Imperial and Metric. Ask us about height and weight. You get inches and pounds. Ask us about temperature and distance. You get Celsius and Kilometers. Grocery stores display $/lb in large #s and $/kg in small #s because they are legally required to post the metric that we all ignore. Construction material is all in Imperial.

#23 Now that map is just racist. I know for a fact that water in Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Egypt, and a few more are very safe to drink. And i'm sure that people who've been to or are from the other "red" countries can confirm that most of them also have safe tapwater. But yeah... Western counties have safe water all the rest have poison flowing through the pipes I geuss.

Britt,

I'm going in Türkiye several times per year ... I have never seen someone drinking tap water, whenever I'm going to someone house they drink water from a bottle or from a water dispenser. And when I ask why : tap water is not safe.
So I'm very suprised by your "fact".

Harman, Tap water in Turkey is actually considered very safe to drink. The fact that people in Turkey mostly drink bottled water is more because of water. If you went back about 30 years ago than Yes, everyone would reconmend to drink bottled water instead of Tap, because it wasn't safe back then. The fact still is that it's saft now and very drinkable. But people grew up not drinking tap and they're raising their children the same way. I'm in Turkey every other month and this is within my field of work.

Elvira, I'm agree with you but two things to keep in mind : Tap water treatment is still a matter of municipalities, tap water is safe in Istanbul but not in all cities of Türkiye. Also, in cities where tap water is safe, end distribution network in some buildings can contaminate water, so the doubt is allowed for some citizens.
So instead of listing all exceptions, it is better to tell to a traveller to globally take care of tap water (as the map is not attend to be an exhaustive situation of tap water in countries but an information for travellers).

Why does it have to be racist, why can't it just be wrong.

Britt, Countries are marked "not safe to drink" if tap water anywhere in the country is not safe. Safety is actually a local matter, it's possible to have it safe in some places, unsafe in others. And it's usually a matter of infectious agents in the water, not toxins. For me, the only surprise on that map is Chile.
