Not saying I agree but it's common for hikers and climbers to take their pets with them. Hardcore climbers often stay in climbing areas for a whole season until weather forces them out. Some don't even have permanent homes so leaving the dog isn't an option.

Why bs? It's a small dog. Could easily be carried in a harness. Special forces carry full sized dogs in a harness while abseiling from walls.
