KIA was founded in 1944 under the name Kyungsung Precision Industry. This Korean company eventually swapped their name to “KIA” which can be translated to “rising from Asia.”
VOLVO
Founded in 1927, VOLVO was initially set to become a daughter company of SKF, However, they shifted toward manufacturing cars that could handle Sweden’s famously cold temperatures. The name “VOLVO” is Latin for “I Roll,” and the famous logo represents an ancient chemical symbol for iron.

Originally known as “Fuji Heavy Industries,” Subaru was named after a collection of stars (as shown in the logo) because the founder wanted his cars to have a notably Japanese name.
MITSUBISHI
The word “mitsubishi” consists of 2 parts, “mitsu” meaning “3” and “hishi” meaning “water chestnut,” but is also used to refer to a diamond. This diamond is also seen in the company logo, with three diamonds representing the family crest of the founder.
AUDI
Founded in 1909, the name “Audi” is simply a Latin translation of the founder’s name: August Horch. It also means “Listen” in German.
LEXUS
Chosen out of a list of 219 options, the name “LEXUS” was picked to demonstrate “a luxurious and technological image.”
INFINITI
The name of this car was chosen specifically to represent the endless roads that can be driven with it. The logo, also has two meanings: It showcases an infinite highway, as well as Mt. Fuji, as a shout out to the Japanese origins of the car.
Hyundai

Originally, this manufacturer was known as The Swallow Sidecar Company, S.S. for short. When it came time for a rebrand, chairman William Lyons said “Unlike S. S. the name Jaguar is distinctive and cannot be connected or confused with any similar foreign name.”
